NEIGHBORS HOME CARE INVOLVED WITH NEW YORK CITY CAREERS PILOT PROGRAM
The New York Alliance for Careers in Healthcare (NYACH) nyachnyc.org & the New York City Department of Business Services (SBS) recently launched the Quality Home Care Workforce Pilot Program. This program aims to improve the quality of the home care workforce and improve the quality of the home health aide job. Neighbors Home Care was selected this past year as a Bronx employer of individuals trained by the City University of New York (CUNY), Lehman College as Certified Home Health Aides. The training they received followed a newly enhanced curriculum developed by the Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute (PHI) phinational.org that includes more hands on teaching and extensive role playing.
This program received the “Chair’s Award for Exemplary Collaborative” from the National Fund for Workforce Solutions at their annual conference that was held in Baltimore on June 17-19. Jordan N. Shames, President & CEO of Neighbors Home Care was also in attendance. A video, which highlights scenes from the home health aide training program, and background on NYACH and the NY City Workforce Innovation Fund was shown at the ceremony.
